Our History
Thorndon Cook Power was formed at the beginning of 2015 when, after acquisition by WSP, Parsons Brinckerhoff restructured its involvement in the power sector in the Asia-Pacific region. The staff of the former PB Power NZ thermal group, which included the PB geothermal centre of excellence in New Zealand have formed a new engineering consultancy structured to better match the highly competitive international market for these services.
As individuals, most of the principals involved in Thorndon Cook Power can draw on 3 to 4 decades of power sector experience across a broad range of technologies, clients, services and regions.
The company name reflects the original PB Power Wellington and Auckland offices located in Thorndon Quay and Cook Street respectively. Thorndon Cook Power takes pride in the opportunity to build on the reputation for excellence in engineering, project management and related services that was established by the engineers working from these offices.
